Lakina Edwards, SFC Former Client and Board Member
To honor Black History Month and Women's History Month, Suited for Change has started a podcast series led by coaching volunteer, Christina Eanes.
Our third episode highlights one of our former clients and new board member, Lakina Edwards. Looking for a fresh start in the right direction, Lakina discovered Suited for Change through one of our referral partners, Project Empowerment, led by The Department of Educational Services (DOES).
In her interview, Lakina tells the story of how when she was ready to reenter the workforce, she “didn’t have the clothes that [she] needed to be a part of the professional world,” and how “Suited for Change changed [her] life.” As she expands her role in the SFC community on the Board, we cannot wait to see how she will continue uplift and inspire others.
To close out Black History Month, we wanted to leave you with one of the many positive pieces of advice from Lakina: "Your past does not define the current present or the future for that matter...dust yourself off and get back up and get back out there."
